Door Hinges are either reversible or made to be used specifically in a right-hand or left-hand position (mounted vertically). If the door opens from you to the right, get a right-hand hinge. If it opens to the left, get a left-hand hinge. Of course the easiest thing to do is to get a loose-pin hinge which will allow you to change the handing of the hinge by removing the pin, inverting the hinge and replacing the pin. Always make sure that the hinge is mounted so the pin can only be removed from the top. Flush hinges can be used for cabinets or for use on light doors. Ball-bearing hinges can be used for heavy doors (like entryway doors) and doors that receive above average use. The ball-bearing hinge is self-lubricating for extended durability.
